Intravenous
Therapy
Our infusion department in association with the Haldimand-Norfolk CCAC
and Oxford CCAC, provides multiple services that allow people to receive
various supportive treatments in their home. We have Gemstar Infusion
Pumps, IV tubing, and all other supplies needed for home IV therapy.
Infusion Pumps
Gemstar portable pumps deliver an exact prescribed dose of injectable
drug over time. The pump can be worn in a small fanny pack while you
continue with your daily activities. People who need IV medications
can stay in the comfort of their home instead of a hospital. We offer
this service throughout the Haldimand-Norfolk and Oxford Counties. Back

IV Antibiotics
Not all antibiotics are available as a pill. Furthermore, some severe
infections are better treated with IV antibiotics. We prepare antibiotics
in IV bags and program the portable pump to inject your doses when exactly
needed. There is no need to connect and disconnect tubing after each
dose, or be tied to an IV pole during the day. Back

Pain Management
This is most commonly used in palliative care of cancer patients. When
people can no longer swallow tablets or have a very high level of pain,
injectable pain medication is preferred. We can prepare IV bags of pain
medication that can be connected to a portable pump. These pumps deliver
a continuous amount of pain medication and allow the patient to press
a button to deliver an extra dose when needed. These pumps are locked
to prevent any tampering with the program. Back

Total Parenteral Nutrition
(TPN)
TPN is an intravenous form of food. People who can not swallow or are
not allowed to eat food need TPN to live. We prepare IV bags that contain
a source of protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, and minerals. Back

Hydration
Hydration is a type of treatment where we replace fluids and electrolytes
by IV infusion. This is needed in people who have lost body fluids due
to excessive vomiting or diarrhea. People who become too sick to eat
or drink enough also need this treatment at times. Back
