Compression stockings and washable supports

Whether you need compression stockings as prescribed by your physician, or a temporary support due to illness or injury, our expert fitting team at Clark’s pharmacy is here to help.

Compression stockings, sleeves and socks

Compression stockings have changed beyond recognition in the past few years – quite literally! Our range feature products made with the latest fabrics and materials, in a variety of sizes, lengths, colours and compression strengths. We always recommend you buy two identical pairs of socks or stockings, so you can wear one and have the other pair hand-washed and drying!

Call in to any of our three Clarks Pharmasaves in Simcoe for advice of the types of compression hosiery available, correct fitting and aftercare.

What are compression stockings?

Compression stockings or socks apply gentle pressure to your lower legs, and reduce swelling whilst maintaining blood flow. They are worn throughout the day, but not at night.

  • You may be prescribed compression stockings if you have poor blood flow in your legs due to conditions such as varicose veins or lymphoedema.
  • You may also be given compression stockings to wear after an operation, and on release from hospital.

Prescription compression stockings

If you are prescribed compression stockings, your physician or hospital nursing team will measure your legs to see which size you require, and check they fit properly. Stockings should be replaced every three to six months.

Compression socks for sport and travel

You don’t need to be prescribed compression hose or socks – you can buy them direct from us too. We carry a range of compression socks including:

Travel socks Wearing these during a flight lasting four or more hours can significantly reduce your risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and swelling of your legs (oedema).

Sports compression socks Many athletes wear these to improve performance by reducing muscle fatigue and cramps during intensive runs or training. They also cushion your foot and wick moisture away from your feet, to maintain better foot health.

  • Knee supports for sports, walking or running
